Alan Aurelia
Tuba, Trombone, Trumpet, French Horn
B.M., M.F.A. Candidate at University of Connecticut. Studied at Hartt School of Music. Conducted University of Connecticut Orchestra, New York Symphonic Arts Ensemble, Centre Symphony, Kingsborough Band, Brooklyn Winds Ensemble. Founder and member of Riverside Brass Quintet, founder and conductor of Riverside Opera and Staten Island Ballet Orchestra, director of Music on the Move. Performed with Stuttgart Ballet and at Spoleto Festival, Italy. Played for Queen Mother and Pope John Paul II. Faculty member at Wagner College and Brooklyn College. Instructor at City Music School. Music Director of Richmond County Orchestra.
Maestro Aurelia is also a very skilled and experienced teacher. He plays many instruments and works very well with students of all ages.
Georgette Ionesco
Associate Faculty of Flute, Theory; President CEO of Pro Musica President of Music Management, LLC
The President of the Richmond Music House recieved her MM degree from the University of Music in Bucharest, Romania. Her specialty is solo and orchestra. She had the opportunity to participate at the International Summer Competition for Orchestra and Conducting, at the Conservatory of Music in Vienna, Austria. Mrs. Ionesco participated at the International Competition for Wind Instruments in Markneukirchen, Germany and received a Mention Award. She received many National Awards in her native Romania. She was a member of the Romanian Philharmonic, Romanian Radio-Television Orchestra, Haifa Symphony Orchestra, and the Chamber Orchestra of the Israeli Philharmonic. She had the wonderful chance to work with famous conductors such as: Sergio Celibidache, Kurt Mazur, Stanley Sperber and Sydney Harth. In the United States, she was a member of different groups and orchestras and played concerts throughout the New York area. Georgette is an adjunct professor at Wagner College and President and CEO of Pro Musica Corporation. With Pro Musica, Mrs. Ionesco organized and also played numerous cultural-educational concerts especially on Staten Island. For her involvement in the cultural development of the community, Mrs. Ionesco was awarded by Senator Vincent Gentile.
Valeda Zaage-Bell
Associate Faculty of Piano, Voice, Recorder, Theory
Valeda Zaage-Bell received her Bachelor of Music Degree from The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She attended Manhattan School of Music, Temple University, Brooklyn College and Hunter College for graduate work. She studied piano with Charles Fischer and orchestral and choral conducting with Elizabeth A.H. Green and John Sinclair. On July 29, 2009 she conducted a 120 voice choir and a 30 piece orchestra for a performance at Belmont Abbey College in North Carolina. Recently Valeda recorded a CD of 20th century piano music for Patrice Editions. Valeda has taught music classes at Curtis High School, New Dorp High School, Port Richmond High School and Wagner High School. She was the music director for local productions of “Once Upon a Mattress,” “Marat/Sade,” and “Jesus Christ Superstar.” In 2005 she performed an original art song she composed for the New Music Collective at the Brooklyn Music Houseof Music. She has been the organist, pianist and choir director for the Vanderbilt Moravian Church for the past 23 years. Last year, in 2010, Ms. Zaage-Bell composed seven “Haiku” for piano and debuted them at the SICOM faculty recital. Valeda actively plays with chamber groups as well. She plays trombone with the Music HouseJazz Band. She is also the artistic director of a local recorder ensemble.
Barry Nudelman
Bassoon, Baritone Saxophone, Bass Clarinet, Clarinet, and Flute
Barry Nudelman plays all the woodwinds, including the bassoon, baritone saxophone, bass clarinet, clarinet, and flute.
He studied at Dartmouth, Harvard, and holds a Master of Music degree from the Juilliard School.
Barry has played with the Springfield Symphony and the National Orchestral Society of Manhattan, and his career includes a serious stint as a Broadway orchestra player for “Titanic,” as well as regular appearances with the Radio City Orchestra. He has also performed at the Aspen Festival in Aspen, Colorado, and the Stoleto Festival, Perugia, Italy.
Barry taught music for fifteen years in Astoria, Queens, and on Staten Island at IS 75, Staten Island Tech, and was band director at St. Joseph by the Sea. He was an adjunct professor at Wagner College.
Barry has also mentored students privately, many of whom have gone on to have wonderful careers in music.
